Along with other areas of Australia, the NSW South Coast was decimated by the bushfires earlier in the year. Over the last few months the NSW South Coast, like many regional communities, has also been significantly impacted by COVID-19. With the recent easing of restrictions permitting travel within NSW, my partner and I decided to book a week down in Culburra Beach with Lola (our dog) and Olive (our dog's best fur-friend). I want to share this trip to showcase the spectacular scenery, local produce, and encourage others to explore locally while still abiding by the current social distancing measures.
What a challenging start to 2020 we have had. From raging bush fires to a global pandemic. It is completely understandable for people to be feeling overwhelmed and anxious at the moment. Unlike previous years where I write my photography goals in a moleskin notebook and keep them to myself, this year I have decided to write this blog post in order to keep myself accountable and share my experience. In the current environment some of my intended goals I will be able to start on, however, others will provide me with something to look forward to when we eventually arrive at some kind of normality and social distancing is no longer a necessity to protect our community.
Previously, I have been covering the topic of long exposure photography as a creative process, the equipment required and basic technique. Recently, however, I have taken a hiatus from social media as I felt I was in need of a digital detox to refresh, rejuvenate and reconnect. As a result of this detox, I want to write about social media, namely Instagram, which is my primary social media platform to share my photography. I have had this blog post sitting as a draft for months as it has been on my mind for a while but I just wasn’t sure how to articulate...
What is my blog intended to be? I want it to be informative, interesting and a quick read to escape from the daily grind. Most posts will take around 3 minutes of your busy lives to read and will include insights into me, my photography, travel, photography locations, learning resources, equipment and anything photography related.
